EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

 

Member, Neal & McDevitt, LLC (2001 – Present) — Lisa joined the firm in June of 2001 as Of Counsel and was promoted to Member in January of 2004.  Lisa’s practice includes all aspects of trademark (international and domestic) and copyright law, including counseling clients regarding the selection, adoption, use and protection of trademarks, the registration of domain names, copyrights and trademarks on a worldwide basis, and licensing.  Lisa also has extensive litigation experience, including proceedings involving trademark, copyright, and domain name disputes before U.S. Federal Courts, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Instructor, Roosevelt University (1999 – Present) – Lawyer’s Assistant Program – Intellectual Property Specialty Seminar Course - Providing paralegal students with a comprehensive study of the law pertaining to Intellectual Property, including the procedural and substantive laws of copyrights, trademarks, patents and trade secrets. Complex issues involving international protection and cyberspace are also discussed.

Of Counsel, Piper, Marbury, Rudnick & Wolfe (2000-2001) — Lisa joined PMRW, an 800 attorney firm with a large intellectual property practice, in March 2000.  At PMRW, Lisa concentrated on trademark counseling, prosecution and licensing, as well as participating extensively in TTAB proceedings.  Lisa also worked on both trademark and copyright litigation matters.

Corporate and Claims Counsel, CNA Insurance Companies(1993-2000) — Lisa joined CNA in 1993 where she focused on litigating coverage issues relating to intellectual property disputes, corporate issues, environmental matters, and electronic commerce coverage issues.

Associate, Bollinger, Ruberry & Garvey (1991-1993) — Responsible for coverage litigation matters. Drafted declaratory judgment complaints and responsive pleadings. Performed policy language analysis, researched pertinent case law, and drafted coverage opinions and reservation of rights letters. Drafted and responded to written discovery, took and defended depositions, and presented oral arguments. First chaired a trial that resulted in a directed verdict. Independently managed litigation matters, including preparation of strategies and overall litigation plans, preparation and participation in written discovery and depositions, and settlement negotiations.  

Associate, Keck, Mahin & Cate (1988-1990) — Responsible for handling commercial litigation matters. Performed extensive legal research and drafted legal documents pertaining to commercial transactions, trademark and copyright law. Took and defended depositions, propounded and responded to discovery, and argued court motions.
