DANIEL J. SCHAEFFER
Of Counsel, Neal & McDevitt, LLC (2006 - Present) – Dan became of counsel to Neal & McDevitt in the summer of 2006. His practice focuses on technology law, copyright law, trademark law, and unfair competition, advertising and promotions law, including software and intellectual property licensing and Web development and marketing agreements.
The Law Office of Daniel J. Schaeffer (2002 - 2006) – Dan was the principal in his own law practice, focusing on technology-related counseling and transactions. His clients ranged from small Internet hosting services to national and multinational consumer products and professional services companies, for whom he handled matters from domain name disputes to multi-year technology outsourcing agreements.
Associate, Kirkland & Ellis (1994 - 1999) – Dan joined K&E’s Intellectual Property Department as a junior associate, where his practice focused on negotiating and drafting a wide variety of software development, marketing and licensing agreements; information systems acquisition and outsourcing agreements; domestic and international technology transfer and distribution agreements; Web development agreements; and patent, trademark and copyright licenses. He also provided intellectual property assistance to the firm’s Corporate Law Department in connection with mergers, acquisitions and private equity investment transactions.
Associate, Foley, Hoag & Eliot(1991 - 1994) – Dan clerked for Foley, Hoag & Eliot (now Foley Hoag LLP), one of Boston’s largest general practice firm’s, during law school and joined the firm as an associate in 1991. He worked with the firm’s Bankruptcy Department, focusing his practice on the relationship between bankruptcy law and intellectual property law.
